The story

Muscat, Oman — November 27, 2023. The Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque stands as the largest mosque in Oman. In 1992, Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said decreed the construction of this grand mosque for his nation. Following an architectural design competition in 1993, Carillion Alawi LLC was awarded the building contract. Construction began in December 1994 at the chosen site in Bausher, taking six years and seven months to complete. Black and white photography.
