Balchik is my favorite place for seascape and photography experiments, like multiple exposure or long exposure photography. It's not far from my hometown of Varna. This part of the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast is absolutely stunning, so if you like breathtaking landscapes, the sea, and a feeling of remoteness, this is your place.
Balchik, a picturesque Black Sea coastal town and popular seaside resort, is nestled in the Southern Dobruja region of northeastern Bulgaria. This charming destination is situated approximately 42 kilometers northeast of Varna. Balchik's unique topography is one of its most striking features, as the town gracefully unfolds across a series of hilly terraces that descend from the expansive Dobruja plateau down to the shimmering sea below. This dramatic landscape has earned Balchik the evocative nickname "The White City," a moniker that pays homage to the distinctive white limestone hills that form its backdrop and give the town its characteristic appearance.
